Mark Cohen and the good folks at KEEN Footwear have so graciously supported  the A Spice of Life kitchen crew with their new professional collection of footwear- the PTC.  The whole staff is in good spirits and working hard in their comfortable,  breathable shoes–a must in the industry when you are standing on your feet all day.  Not only are they walking on air, but they look good doing it too!

Yesterday, a crew of 24 Spice staff members (including owner David Rubin and Director of Operations Dan Bruckner) braved the Colorado spring snow storm at 4:00am to make it out for Jeffco Action Center’s 7th annual Where Action Matters Breakfast.

With 4 hours of prep work on Tuesday to set the room for 550 guests, Wednesday’s execution went without a hitch.  The flawless operations were nailed down to a T to ensure a delicious, beautiful plate along with LOTS of coffee and OJ were served to each guest prior to the start of the program.  We were so prepared, in fact, that the process of food plating and expo took a mere 35 minutes–quite impressive team!

From a catering standpoint we are all pleased with our performance, but we also had the pleasure and opportunity to join in on a very moving and important program for the Jeffco Action Center.    Since 1968, this human services nonprofit has provided an immediate response to basic human needs and promoted pathways to self-sufficiency to Jefferson County, Colorado residents and the homeless.

Thanks to Jeffco Action Center for all you do to help the community.  We are grateful to have taken part in such an important cause, and know the breakfast fundraiser helped to continue support.

With the wedding season just inches away, A Spice of Life is excited to promote an exclusive special at the Callahan House in Longmont.  As one of our favorite venues, we have executed over 100 successful weddings at the Callahan House, and we think it’s the perfect location for your upcoming celebration.

Through the end of September, The Callahan House will be offering facility rental with on site coordination for just $150.00 an hour instead of $195.00.  As wedding experts, we know that the average ceremony and reception lasts about 7 hours, which equates to a $315.00 savings for you. We will also provide you with a complimentary greeting station for your guests prior to the ceremony.

A new Boulder series, FLIC (Food, Libation, and Independent Cinema) launches one week from today on April 28th at The Boulder Contemperary Museum of Art. The goal? As stated on the BMOCA website, to ”Replace corporate with community” by combining independent films with a live performance.

A Spice of Life catered the opening event in March with an “Alice in Wonderland” theme and live performance at a private residence.  The fare featured appetizers inspired by the movie with queen of hearts pop tarts designed to look like a deck of cards, wild mushroom bread puddings, and a mad hatter cake made by Shamane’s Bake Shoppe.

Now, we’re continuing our support with the start of the series.  With a shared excitment for the community, arts, and of course good food & entertainment, A Spice of Life is excited to contribute.  We will be providing scrumptious gourmet sammies and dessert for sale along with many other participating vendors.  For more information check out the website!

Colorado Meetings + Events magazine announces

2010 Best Of Colorado award winners & Hall of Fame inductees

Denver, Colorado, March 19, 2010— The best of the meetings and events industry was on display March 15 as 600+ planners and suppliers applauded the industry’s finest at the fourth annual Colorado Meetings + Events magazine Best Of Colorado awards celebration at The Denver Art Museum.  The event was the kick-off for the first-ever Meetings Week coordinated by the Meetings Industry Council of Colorado.

The readers’ choice awards honor the dedication and creativity of event professionals who have earned the respect and admiration of their clients and peers. The award winners for all 21 categories were selected through an online reader poll.
