Event Spotlight: “I Have A Dream” Foundation Dream-Maker Luncheon

Day 1 Setup Crew, Captured by Food & Beverage Director Graham Thomas

A Spice of Life is proud to partner with numerous charities for sponsorships throughout the year. One of the causes we’ve long held close to our hearts is the “I Have A Dream” Foundation. This foundation works to empower children from low-income communities by providing mentorship, academic support, and scholarships to local students. Since 1990, the “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County has aided the academic and career pursuits of hundreds of students. As longtime community members, parents, and engaged citizens, the team at A Spice of Life couldn’t be happier to sponsor their annual Dream-Maker Luncheon. This event brings together Boulder County’s philanthropists and Dreamers alike for an inspirational, impactful afternoon of testimonials and goal-setting.

Making the Dream-Maker Luncheon

The 22nd annual Dream-Maker Luncheon was held on Thursday, October 3rd. Setup for this event was a two-day affair; our  front-of-house crew arrived at Ascent Community Church on Wednesday afternoon to set up tables, chairs, centerpieces and linens. Meanwhile our chefs received shipments of specialty produce and our operations department prepared to brew over 60 gallons of iced tea for the thousand-odd guests at the event.

Vegan Autumn Asian Salads, Captured By Executive Chef Andrea Uzarowski

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand ..Salads

For lunch, the nearly 1,000 participants dined on an autumnal Asian salad we created for the occasion. We adorned our mixed greens with forbidden rice, choy spinach, daikon, 5-spice candied walnuts, asian pear confit, and kabocha squash. Guests could choose roasted chicken or a vegan protein option, and topped it all with spicy-sweet housemade ginger vinaigrette. Our younger participants, elementary- and middle-school aged Dreamers benefited by the foundation, dined on smoked turkey sandwiches, housemade potato chips, and fresh fruit.

Lemon & Chocolate Madeleines, Captured By Executive Chef Andrea Uzarowski

For dessert, our pastry team painstakingly molded hundreds of lemon madeleines and flourless chocolate madeleines, served family-style.

We cannot wait to participate in future I Have A Dream events! If you’re looking to get involved in this great foundation, visit their website and learn how you can donate time, financial resources, and more to the underserved children in our community.

Until then, cheers to the Dreamers, their supporters, the organizers of this event and the rest of the community partner underwriters who we are continually proud to work alongside!
