Built for a festival week

The 2027 Sundance Film Festival runs January 21 to 31 across fifteen announced venues, every one of them a short drive from our production kitchen on 55th Street. We are a full-service caterer with our own kitchen, service teams, bartenders, and trucks, so a premiere reception at one theater, a lounge at another, and a late dinner across town can run on the same day from one plan.

For more than three decades, A Spice of Life Catering has been creating exceptional culinary experiences that celebrate the people, places, and communities that make Colorado unique. As a Boulder-based company, we are deeply connected to the local food ecosystem and intentionally cultivate relationships with regional producers, artisans, and partners who share our commitment to quality, sustainability, and hospitality. We proudly work alongside respected local businesses such as Rock River Bison, Bee Squared Honey, and the Boulder County Farmers Market, and we source many of our ingredients directly from trusted producers whenever possible. Menus for festival week are elevated and authentically connected to place.

Inside the festival footprint

Over the years, we have developed extensive experience working within many of Colorado's most respected event spaces, including several the festival has announced for 2027. This is where we have already cooked, and how often.

The rest of the 2027 footprint

  • eTown Hall (screenings and talks; we catered there in 2024)
  • Chautauqua Auditorium
  • Boulder High School Auditorium
  • Casey Middle School Auditorium
  • Cinemark Century Boulder
  • Canyon Theater, Boulder Public Library
  • Hotel Boulderado, festival headquarters

Venue teams know us. We walk every room before the first service, coordinate load-in and timing with the house staff, and bring a field kitchen where there is none. See the venues we work in.

Scale without losing the plate

We have served more than 4,000 guests at a single event and a green room for twelve with the same attention. A festival week is both at once: a seated dinner for several hundred one night, passed appetizers in a theater lobby the next, boxed meals for a crew at dawn. The Boulder Chamber is a repeat client, including its 2025 event at the Boulder Theater.

Every event in the window sits on one proposal and one run-of-show. A dedicated coordinator stays with you from the first call through the last course, so the person who planned the week is the person answering the phone during it.

How we run a festival week

  • Two A Spice of Life chefs plating trays of deviled eggs in the production kitchen

    Our own kitchen

A licensed production kitchen in Boulder, a short drive from every festival venue, where tastings are hosted and every festival menu is built and dispatched.

  • An A Spice of Life server in uniform presenting a tray of plated appetizers in a bright venue lobby

    Our own service teams

Uniformed servers, bartenders, and chefs who work together every week. Setup, service, and breakdown are ours, so the venue and the host never staff the food.

  • An A Spice of Life bartender pouring wine for a guest at an event bar

Bar service where the venue allows it

T.I.P.S.-trained bartenders and a certificate of insurance provided as a matter of course; the host or venue supplies the alcohol. Signature cocktails, wine and beer, or a dry lounge, as the room calls for.

  • A hand-lettered menu card reading Pickled Beets beside a place setting at a farm table

    Labeled, restriction-friendly menus

Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-aware options, labeled at the table and handled with care in the kitchen. Menus are written around the restrictions in the room, not patched after the fact.

  • Brioche sliders with basil and tomato lined up on a serving board

    Handheld, boxed, and late

Passed and handheld menus for lobbies, boxed and grab-and-go for crews and volunteers, and late service for after-parties, all from the same kitchen and the same plan.

Festival-week questions

How far ahead should a festival-week event be booked?
As soon as the date and venue are known. The festival runs January 21 to 31, 2027, and the same kitchen, staff, and trucks serve every event that week. One proposal can hold several dates at once, and the details can change as the program firms up.
Can one caterer serve events at several festival venues on the same day?
Yes. Every announced venue is a short drive from our kitchen, and we have already cooked inside the Boulder Theater, the Dairy Arts Center, eTown Hall, and Macky Auditorium. One coordinator builds a single run-of-show across venues so each service lands on time.
How are dietary restrictions handled for a large, mixed guest list?
Menus are written around the restrictions in the room, not patched afterward, with gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-aware options labeled at the table. One working kitchen cannot promise a guest with celiac disease or a life-threatening allergy that there is no risk, and we say so plainly.
Is late-night and after-party service available during the festival?
Yes. Late service, passed and handheld menus, and grab-and-go for crews are all part of a festival-week proposal, along with bar service and T.I.P.S.-trained bartenders wherever the venue allows it.
